RealityScan - Kullaberg

For an internal Quixel artjam we got to try out the RealityScan app for Android, using that and UEFN I built this scene based on Kullaberg together with Daniel Stok over the course of just 4,5 days.

Everything was scanned with a smarthphone, the sketchfab models provided are the high quality scans, for the scene we used processed assets according to UEFN standards (<4k triangles per mesh)

The entire scene is built and rendered in UEFN, for the vegetation we limited ourselves to our phone camera, we added 1 plant from the Megascans library, in the breakdown you can see the amount of assets done specifically for the jam.

For the Island we used google maps to get a texture, and the terrain was hand sculpted.

We took turns processing assets, building shaders and set dressing, we had daily calls for feedback and iterations, for some distant elements we used alpha cutouts to increase speed of building, the water and boat are UEFN assets.

The total time it took to built the scene was half a day of scanning (had to wait for overcast) 3 days of building and 1 day of finalizing and rendering.
